Foxfire Mountain House Presents:

The Art of Living Well

We gather this year at the 100 year-old Foxfire Mountain House in the secluded Catskill Mountains for four magical days to discover how creative practices and simple, yet thoughtful, moments of self care can reveal a pathway to a life well-lived. Guided by carefully selected teachers and makers, we will explore personal expression through design. This is an all-inclusive retreat - you will leave the weekend with the skills needed to continue in your creative pursuits as well as all of the professional-quality tools of the trades.

Surrounded by Foxfire's 10 private acres, we will immerse ourselves in finding the beauty in everyday moments while fostering new friendships and creative growth. Our guests will spend the weekend in one of Foxfire's 11 unique guest rooms, each with white linen bedding on sunbleached wood beds crafted by a local carpenter to ensure a good night’s sleep. Whether spending time weaving by the fireplace or gathered for bountiful meals prepared by Foxfire with a Nordic country influence, this retreat will aim to highlight the joy that is gained by simplicity done well.

During your time at Foxfire you will join fiber artist Sara Banner of The Forest Fern and woodworker, and designer, Nicole Cole of Vestige Home for immersive workshops in their respective crafts.

Sara will guide our guests though the art of weaving - from warping your personal hardwood frame loom to creating texture and interest with unique fibers, Sara teaches not only technique, but helps you explore how to find your own personal voice and style. We will experiment with unexpected materials such as ceramics, feathers and personal objects, including a special class dedicated to incorporating macrame knots in your work.

Nicole will be leading our guests in the art of hand carving, with a focus on spoon carving. From selecting the proper wood to finishing techniques, we will use the beauty presented by nature to create useful objects to share with those you love. Nicole will also share serving boards and objects from her own personal collection to demonstrate how you can elevate your entertaining through thoughtful food styling along with the chefs at Foxfire.

Foxfire Mountain House, Mt. Tremper NY

Bohemian and relaxed, Foxfire is like your globe-trotting uncle’s country estate. A place where modern travelers can lounge by the stone fireplace on sheepskin rugs or on vintage velvet and leather sofas. It’s about conversation, community, and the right ambience to create perfect moments. Whether it’s the collections of butterflies and antlers, old silver, or the Moroccan tiles, there’s a simple sophistication throughout.

Located in the Catskill mountains, Foxfire Mountain House is nestled on ten private acres with a pond and lily pool, bonfire pits, and a rustic outdoor glass house for nights under the stars. It’s a place to call your own, however long you stay. You’re welcome here, always.
